- Briggs Land: Lone Wolves #2
- Grass Kings #5
- Skin & Earth #1
Three issues, two series of which I haven’t even started, the third of which I’m behind on. Nonetheless, let’s get started, shall we?
For those who missed the prime opportunity, Dark Horse had a sale on Comixology a few weeks back that included the original Briggs Land series. That being said, you can still get all five issues for under ten dollars soo…. Read it. I’m saying you need to read it. There. Brian Wood’s penned a series that hits on some fairly topical elements in American society, and I suspect this follow-up vol is no different.
Yes, I recently only read Grass Kings #3, but let me say this: anyone who said this book’s pacing was best described as “languid” needs to read this third installment. Lemme tell you, there was a cacophony of bells that aren’t going to be unrung anytime soon. Matt Kindt and Tyler Jenkins are absolutely killing it. I just pray the numbers are good, and that BOOM! is willing to be patient with this book.
This week’s new entry is a miniseries from Dynamite, written and drawn by synthpop musician LIGHTS. It’s called Skin & Earth, and functions as a tie-in to her upcoming album. I’ve been a huge fan of her music for…about eight or nine years now, and I’ve seen her art for past album efforts. Perhaps it goes without saying that her talents extend beyond music.
