Episode 85 | Jack “King” Kirby

This week’s episode was recorded on September 25th, 2016. Our show this week is longer than usual, but it’s definitely incredible. Nick and Paul join Mike to talk a whole bunch about comics and what they read recently. However, the main, and very long, topic for this week is all about the legacy of Jack Kirby. And if you have a moment, please take the I Read Comic Books Listener survey! Episode 84 | The Politics in Comic Books

This week’s episode was recorded on September 18th, 2016. The show this week features guests Nick and Kate to talk about politics in comic books. The topic meanders a bit, but the ultimate discussion of how politics are handled, presented, inserted, and masked in comics is discussed. This may seem heavy, but, on the whole, it’s a fun talk about how we as comic fans read into stories. Episode 83 | Please Fave Responsibly

This week’s episode was recorded on September 11th, 2016. After week off due to some technical weirdness and traveling, but we are back! Our show this week is a great one. We had a new guest joining Mike and Tia: Kara Szamborski from the comiXologist podcast! The episode this week is all about your “problematic favorite characters” (aka “problematic faves”) in comic books (and other media). Kara dives real deep into the Archie Comics/Riverdale universe and fashion world, and Mike gets lost. Near the end, there’s some talk of fan fiction and “coffee shop fic” which is a whole different thing, but, as per usual, this episode is fantastic. Episode 82 | The Dinosaur Tangent

This week’s episode was recorded on August 28th, 2016. Brian and Tia join Mike to talk about… well, the intention this week was to talk about re-reading comics, but there were about twenty different tangents–dinosaurs being primarily one of them. Re-reading comics is a strange thing for Mike, but Brian and Tia make their case and all hell breaks loose when Jurassic Park gets brought up.
