Episode 56 | THE ANNUAL

This week’s episode was recorded on January 31st, 2016. This episode of I Read Comic Books is a special one as it marks one full year of recording our show. Host Mike Rapin is joined by long-time guests Nick White and Paul Jaissle and the show’s editor, Zander Riggs. They talk comics they’ve read recently and books they’re excited for this week (Paper Girls #5, Captain Marvel #2, and Green Arrow #49), but this week is a weird/special one. There’s no focal topic outside of chatting about the past year of the show. So, if this is your first episode… you may be a bit lost. Next week, we’ll be back to our regular show. Episode 55 | Checking In With Dropped Comics

This week’s episode was recorded on January 24th, 2016. This week, Tia Vasiliou, Kate Skocelas, and Mike Rapin chat about comics they read in the past week or so and books they’re excited for this upcoming week (Angela: Queen of Hel #4, Black Magick #4, and Cry Havoc #1) with only a little meandering onto various other topics. Then, for this week’s primary topic, Kate brought up the idea of following up on books you may have dropped and what ever happened to them. The topic diverged from there and was ultimately pretty awesome. Episode 51 | A Curse on the show & Soapboxes

This week’s episode was recorded (twice) on December 27th, 2015. This week’s episode was cursed. The episode was recorded twice (once with Mike, once without…), so bear with us this week as things get weird. The final version features Zander Riggs, Tia Vasiliou, and Nick White who talk what they read last week and their comic picks for this week (Mercury Heat #6, Doctor Fate #7, and The Omega Men #7). The focal topic this week was about selling comics based on their creators and subsequently about following creators (on social media and other platforms–not in real life). Tia had to attend to some business at home, so the last chunk of the show is mostly Zander and Nick ranting… especially after the credits. Episode 50 | So much James Tynion IV

This week’s episode was recorded on December 20th, 2015. Hosts Mike, James, and Paul do what we always do on this show: Talk about what we read last week and what we’re excited for this week (Transformers vs G.I. Joe #10, Island #5, and Paybacks #4). Following, the gang discusses one of the hardest things to nail down in a conversation: What keeps you reading a book? Whether it’s new #1s, jumping into an ongoing series, or grabbing a graphic novel; all is discussed. Episode 49 | What’s a Judge to judge?

This week’s episode was recorded on December 13th, 2015. This week, Mike, Nick, and Paul chat about what they read last week (which was purposefully limited this time!) as well as their comic picks for the week (Ivar, Timewalker #12, Judge Dredd #1, and Invincible #126). The focus of this week’s episode was on each of the hosts “Great White Whale” of comics. And the metaphor doesn’t stop there (Harry Potter? Actually discussing Moby Dick?). Episode 47 | Chla-mutie-a

This week’s episode was recorded on November 29th, 2015. On this week’s episode, Nick, Paul, and Mike started the episode talking about their comic picks for the week then ended up talking about what they read in the last week–which was a lot. There’s talk of The Dark Knight Three: The Master Race #1, and they ended up leading ourselves into a conversation about one shots. As you may notice, we’re trying a new format this week, so if you hate it (or love it!), let us know. If you hear this episode before December 31st, 2015, please take our survey. Anyone who takes it and provides their email at the end will be gifted a comic by Mike!
