Episode 23 | All New, All Different, Post-New52

This week’s episode was recorded June 7th, 2015. After a bit of technical difficulty, we have a new episode! This week’s hosts, Mike, Nick, and Paul talk their comic picks–Batman #41 and Injection #2. There’s was some discussion about Transformers vs. GI Joe (again!), but the longer discussion was put off for another day. The New Gloss Over looked over the All-New, All-Different Marvel announcements, Special Edition: NYCC’s ticket sales for NYCC 2015, Nowhere Men returning this Fall, and Daniel Clowes’ “Wilson” being adapted for film. This week’s main topics were on controversy and piracy on sites like Redbubble and others in regards to selling unauthorized prints of comics/covers/etc., and piracy in the comic and music industry. Nick and Paul discussed the new DCYou, and Mike commented a bit. This week’s music was by Poldoore (“Ain’t No Sunshine” and”In Your Head“), Shin-Ski, and Infinity Shred. Have a question? Episode 22 | #Name3Artists

This episode was recorded on May 31st, 2015. This week, hosts Mike and Paul discuss their comic picks (Transformers vs. GI Joe #7 and Zero #17), other comics they’re reading, and some news about The Wicked + The Divine and Lumberjanes as well as Marvel’s upcoming YA Novel starring Black Widow. Focus topics this week included Hip-Hop Family Tree becoming an ongoing, monthly series, Chris Burnham’s tweets “confirming” DC’s in-page ads, and the Twitter hashtag #Name3Artists where Gail Simone asked users to name three artists that would get them to buy a comic book. Episode 20 | Bazinga, indeed.

This episode was recorded May 17th, 2015. This week, Mike and Nick discuss their comic picks for the week, Trees #9 and Ninjak #3. In the news gloss over, topics included: DC’s new digital-first book, Asa Butterfield as Spider-Man rumors, April 2015 top 10 selling comics, and the Constantine TV show (and shows moving to other networks or continuing due to fan support)–it was a lot. Primary topics for this week were Mike’s readdressing the outing of Bobby Drake, a discussion about the Supergirl TV series first look, and the cancelled Archie Comics Kickstarter. Discussion topics include Dark Horse’s April Fool’s Day announcements and how one of those two was actually true: Local Comic Shops can turn in 20 unsold copies of Star Wars #1 for exclusive covers for the first issue of Barb Wire (and it turns out it wasn’t a joke!). Mike talks about how you can tell a Image book from a Dark Horse book and the gang discusses anthology comics.
