Episode 93 | Own Your Trash

This episode was recorded on November 20th, 2016. The show this week features Nick and Kate talking all about those pesky cultural references and “memes” in comic books. However, at the end of the day, there are some books that do this well and others that don’t. This episode dives into finding where the line is drawn. Also, Nick coins the term “fandering.” This is the final week! If you haven’t already taken it, please take the I Read Comic Books Listener survey! Episode 84 | The Politics in Comic Books

This week’s episode was recorded on September 18th, 2016. The show this week features guests Nick and Kate to talk about politics in comic books. The topic meanders a bit, but the ultimate discussion of how politics are handled, presented, inserted, and masked in comics is discussed. This may seem heavy, but, on the whole, it’s a fun talk about how we as comic fans read into stories. Episode 31 | Experiences in buying comics

This week’s episode was recorded on August 2nd, 2015. In a magical, last-minute chance, Mike and Nick were joined by Jeff Perry, host of the After Image podcast. After their comic picks for the week (The Wicked + The Divine #13, Nailbiter #15, and Bloodshot: Reborn #5), the gang dives into Jeff’s podcast and his love for Image comics, then they try to (and only sort of do) answer the question, “How do you drop comics from your regular pull list?” While they never truly answer the question, a discussion about their experiences in buying comics, how to pre-order comics (via Kieron Gillen), and the advantages and disadvantages of buying digital and print comics. Many thanks to Jeff for joining us this week! Check out the After Image podcast and Jeff on Twitter. This week’s music was by Panda Eyes, Mariana and the Diamonds, and Infinity Shred.
